DPS McGlone School

McGlone Elementary School is one of more than 70 elementary schools in the Denver Public Schools (DPS) system.  In March 2013, Krische Construction began work on this construction and renovation project, utilizing streamlined communication and coordination in order to meet the school’s aggressive schedule.

The school needed to add a new Early Learning Center to provide an optimal learning environment for its youngest students. Krische recently completed construction on the new 12,000-square-foot Early Learning Center. This building features a colorful Lego theme and includes classrooms for preschoolers and Kindergarteners.  The Early Learning Center – separate, but still a part of the existing elementary school campus – represents a successful model in early childhood education, providing a suitable, dedicated environment focused on educating younger children.

The existing elementary school structure was originally built in the 1970s, and the boilers were past their useful life. To provide a healthier environment and improve heating efficiency, the boilers were replaced and the venting upgraded.  As the building was not originally designed for handicap access, ramps were added to facilitate easier entrance to the classrooms.
